Setup - Adding your White-Label Deployment Domain
Important: Please read the following guide on how to choose a good deployment domain first.
A deployment domain is a domain that is used to create the address for a site when it is first deployed. If your deployment domain is example.com, you will be able to create sites with domains like site1.example.com and customer.example.com. When you first subscribe to either the Pro or Hub Builder plans, you will be provided with a deployment domain to get you started that ends with dollie.io. Most customers will quickly decide they want to have their own deployment domain. In that case, you need to follow the steps below.
Have or purchase a domain name from a domain registrar
Domain names can be purchased from domain registrars such as Namecheap.
You can use a naked domain, or indeed a subdomain if that makes sense to you.
Add the deployment domain to Control HQ
The below screenshot will indicate where you can add a new deployment domain. It is possible to add more than one deployment domain depending on your needs.
Update the nameservers at the domain registrar
Log in to your domain registrar and edit the nameservers to the ones provided by Dollie. Your domain registrar is the service you have purchased your domain from, or where the registration of your domain is managed. There, you should define the nameservers of your domain to be the following:
pdns1.stratus5.com
pdns2.stratus5.com
pdns3.stratus5.com
Make sure you are updating the authoritative nameservers at your registrar, not adding NS records to existing dns nameservers.
Be sure to remove any existing nameservers for the domain, and only add those you need for Dollie.
Wait up to 24 - 48 hours (bummer)
In order to be fast, the global DNS system is heavily cached. After making the necessary changes, you often will need to wait 24 - 48 hours for the changes to take effect. globally.
A good way to verify if you have configured your domain at the registrar correctly is to verify it using this tool https://who.is/. The nameservers listed should all end in stratus5.com, and should look something like the following:
