Setup - Adding your White-Label Deployment Domain

A deployment domain is a domain that is used to create the address for a site when it is first deployed. If your deployment domain is example.com, you will be able to create sites with domains like site1.example.com and customer.example.com. When you first subscribe to either the Pro or Hub Builder plans, you will be provided with a deployment domain to get you started that ends with dollie.io. Most customers will quickly decide they want to have their own deployment domain. In that case, you need to follow the steps below.

Have or purchase a domain name from a domain registrar

Domain names can be purchased from domain registrars such as Namecheap. You can use a naked domain, or indeed a subdomain if that makes sense to you.

Add the deployment domain to Control HQ

The below screenshot will indicate where you can add a new deployment domain. It is possible to add more than one deployment domain depending on your needs.

Update the nameservers at the domain registrar

How do I setup my Blueprints inside my Hub?

Blueprints are so powerful and flexible because you can create them in any way you want. You can bundle plugins, themes and custom code together to create a site that is perfect for your needs and sell them as a hosted solution. You can tie Blueprints to your recurring subscriptions and so much more. In this document we will first explain you how to create your first Blueprint.

Step 1 - Launch a new Blueprint.

In your Hub you can create a new Blueprint by clicking on the Launch New Blueprint menu link on any of your Hub pages. The Launch New Blueprint page was created automatically when your installed the Dollie Hub plugin so you should also see it in your Page listing in your WordPress admin.

In the first form field give your Blueprint a name. For example my-agency-blueprint.
Press Launch New Blueprint and the Blueprint will be created.
Once your Blueprint is launched you will see the same Dashboard as a regular site, but with one extra area to manage and configure this blueprint. You'll also see a bar at the bottom of the screen saying your new Blueprint is in Staging mode. This means that the Blueprint is currently only visible and usable by you, until you're ready to start using it. So what's next?

What is the Real-Time Customizer?

The real-time customizer makes setting up new websites for your clients easier and faster than before. The Real-Time Customizer enables you to add additional fields to the site launching process, whose data can be injected into the newly launched site. This saves on the tedious work of replacing emails, names, addresses and other common variables. The real-time customizer only works with your custom blueprints, and not with ones from our public Blueprint library.

Defining Placeholders for a Blueprint

From within your hub, navigate to the particular blueprint, and then to the real-time customizer section. There you can add / or edit the placeholder variables that can then be placed within the content of the blueprint. There are attributes to specify when adding a new placeholder:

How can I connect to a website's database?

There is more than one means of connecting to a database.

Using The Database Manager in Control HQ or Your Hub

Adminer is a web based database administration tool written in PHP. It is included by default for all website in your Private Cloud and can be accessed either from Control HQ or in your Hub.

In either case, navigate to the management page for a particular site, go to Developer > Database Manager to access it.

Using the MySQL client

To manage the database using the wordpress cli, first you need to SSH to your website environment:

ssh user@examplewebsite.com

Once you are connected to your website environment you can connect to the database with the MySql client by executing the command from the command line.

Once the MySql client is connected to the database, you have the full power of MySql commands available to you.

Tip 1 - Put your Customer Portal (Your WP installation with the Dollie Hub Plugin installed) on a subdomain.

When it comes to setting up a customer portal or dashboard, it's important to consider how it will be integrated into your existing website. We strongly recommend creating a separate WordPress installation solely dedicated to your Hub.

This allows you to keep your main domain (e.g. yourbusiness.com) and landing page separate from your customer portal, which can be accessed via a subdomain such as dashboard.yourbusiness.com.

Using a subdomain has several benefits.

Using a subdomain makes it clear to users that they are accessing a separate part of your website that is dedicated to their needs.
